Tight Housing Market in 2013 Fuels Price Growth

Posted by Nancy Ball on Monday, March 10th, 2014 at 8:45am.

Hello Everyone,

Excited to start off this new year with new goals, new referrals and new clients. Thank you for helping me achieve # 4 Top Producer last month and # 7 Top Producer Overall for 2013 out of my office. I am proud to say that I managed to stay on page 1 of Calgary Real Estate in the Google ranking and launch my new websitewww.NancyBall.ca which in turn has led to quicker sales and more exposure for my listings. I ensure MLS listings get updated every hour on my website.

Speaking of listings, we are looking for more listings as our month to date active listings is approx 21% below this time last year. If you or anyone you know are thinking of selling, this is a great time! With the lack of listings, buyers are desperately seeking and jumping at any good listings as soon as they hit the market! The decrease in Days on Market from 53 days in January 2013 to 42 days in January 2014 reflects this shortage of listings - that's a 20% decrease!

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about buying or selling your home. I would love to chat!

Wishing you all the best for 2014!

1. Ikat prints: Historically used "to dress the grandest pashas, the ikat pattern has become a patchy print on kitchen towels," said Los Angeles-based designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard. Laguna Beach designer Sheldon Harte agreed: "You know it's over when it's showing up on paper plates at CVS."

1. Macramé and fiber-art wall hangings: "It's sculpture for your wall that adds texture and replaces wallpaper or fine art you can't afford," said Ms. Burnham. "And we haven't seen it since the 1970s. I think it's time." Early adopters include the Ace Hotel chain and architect Barbara Bestor. » Click Here

Space Station Cameras Will Soon Broadcast Your Neighbourhood

A couple of high-definition cameras recently delivered to the International Space Station are set to start broadcasting near-live images of Earth for free — at a magnification where you can see vehicles and crowds.

The cameras are the property of Urthecast, a Canadian company that plans to start its free broadcast in early 2014. The cameras can see everything from 51 degrees north to 51 degrees south — sorry, Alaska, Scandinavia, and most of the UK, you won't be featured. Everyone else will be able to see their neighbourhood drift by in surprisingly high resolution, surprisingly frequently. (The ISS orbits the planet 19 times a day.) » Click Here

East Village Dream Becoming a Reality

CALGARY - The four cranes rise from the ground and reach skyward just east of Calgary’s downtown City Hall building.

They are a clear sign of progress in the long-discussed East Village development on almost 20 hectares of land located in a prime spot near the heart of the city.

The master plan calls for about 13 residential buildings. The entire East Village project will be about 63 per cent residential development and 37 per cent retail, office, civic and cultural development. It will have about 3,900 condo/townhome units. Total development is estimated at about four million square feet with an estimated development value of $3 billion at build out. Full build out is expected by 2025-27 depending on market conditions.» Click Here
